At UV Medico, we’ve just hit another milestone: Our newest UV222 Booths have passed Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and are ready to ship to a pharmaceutical client. Our team will soon install them, marking another step forward in contamination control for cleanroom environments.
The UV222 Booth is the only solution on the market that effectively decontaminates fully gowned operators before entering pharmaceutical production cleanrooms. In this way, the UV222 Booth improves the safety of medical manufacturing processes benefitting both manufacturer and patients.
These two booths were custom-built to meet the client’s exact needs. This ensures seamless integration into their cleanroom operations. The demand for contamination control solutions is growing fast, and we’re keeping the pace up.
You can still see them in action before they leave our facility. If you’d like to take a closer look, you can book an appointment with our team to visit our warehouse in Aarhus, Denmark.
The Role of the UV222 Booth in Contamination Control
Cleanroom environments demand the highest level of contamination control, and that’s exactly where the UV222 Booth stands out. These booths are an efficient and reliable way to reduce the microbial load on personnel and equipment before entering critical areas.
Why the UV222 Booth is a Game-Changer for Cleanrooms
Over 80% of contaminants in cleanrooms come from personnel, and simply training operators on proper behavior isn’t enough to prevent environmental deviations. This is where the UV222 Booth makes a real impact, by actively reducing the microbial burden that operators inadvertently bring into the cleanroom’s core.
Efficacy tests have shown that the UV222 Booth reduces bacteria and viruses up to 99.9% within just 30 seconds, making it one of the fastest and most effective decontamination solutions available. Learn more about why the UV222 Booth is a breakthrough for cleanrooms here.
Built for Efficiency and Safety
One of the standout features of the UV222 Booth is its completely touchless operation, eliminating any risk of cross-contamination from surfaces. Operators simply step inside, and the booth automatically starts the decontamination cycle, no buttons, no manual steps, just effortless protection.
Safety is also at the core of its design. Far-UVC transmission is less than 0.05% for all tested protective equipment, meaning it won’t compromise the integrity of PPE or other cleanroom materials.

Jordi Amagat Molas, PhD, Segment Manager - Cleanroom, UV Medico
I've been following this project from day one, from assembly to testing and FAT approval, so seeing these booths finally ready to ship is really exciting. Every build has its own challenges, but these were especially interesting because we worked so closely with the client to match their cleanroom setup. It’s great to know they’ll soon be installed and ready to use.
What Does FAT Approval Mean? Why Does It Matter?
Before any equipment leaves the factory, it undergoes Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), a critical process that ensures everything functions as expected before shipment.
For this project, FAT was essential because these UV222 Booths are custom-built for cleanroom environments, where strict contamination control is mandatory. The tests validated everything from functionality and safety to compliance with industry standards, ensuring the booths are fully prepared for use upon delivery.
Another crucial point is that our booths also comply with Annex 1 regulations, which set stringent guidelines for cleanroom contamination control in pharmaceutical manufacturing. You can read more about Annex 1 here.
FAT approval gives our team and the client confidence that the booths will perform seamlessly once installed and meet all regulatory and operational requirements. Now that these tests are complete, the booths are ready to be shipped and put into action.

FAQs
-
What is Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)?
Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) is a final quality check before equipment is shipped to the client. It ensures that everything works as expected and meets safety, functionality, and regulatory requirements.
For pharmaceutical cleanrooms, FAT is critical because even small issues can disrupt contamination control.
-
How does the UV222 Booth reduce contamination in cleanrooms?
Over 80% of contamination in cleanrooms comes from personnel. The UV222 Booth uses Far-UVC light to eliminate 99.9% of bacteria and viruses in just 30 seconds before people enter sterile areas.
- No chemicals, no waste—just fast, safe disinfection.
- Touchless operation means no risk of cross-contamination.
- Fully integrated with cleanroom workflows for seamless use.
