Enhancing Patient Safety with UV Medico's UV222 at King Hamad Hospital

We are proud to announce the successful installation of UV222™ Far-UVC disinfection units at Ibrahim Bin Hamad Obaidullah Hospital (IBHOH) in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE. This project included two ICU wards with our UV222 lamps as part of the hospital’s initiative to strengthen infection control.
Strengthening Infection Control in the ICU
Intensive Care Units are high-risk areas where infection control is critical and essential. Patients in ICUs are often vulnerable, and preventing hospital-acquired infections (HAIs) is a top priority. With this installation, the IBHOH is adding a continuous layer of protection against airborne and surface pathogens.

2 UV222 Lamps installed in the room's ceiling
UV Medico’s UV222 lamps emit Far-UVC light at 222 nm, a wavelength scientifically proven to inactivate a broad spectrum of pathogens while being safe for human exposure. Unlike conventional germicidal UV lights, Far-UVC at 222 nm does not penetrate living human cells of the skin or eyes, so it can operate continuously in occupied spaces without causing harm. 
This means doctors, nurses, and patients in the ICU can go about their routines as the lamps silently disinfect both air and surfaces in real time. Experts continue to prove that Far-UVC provides continuous disinfection in occupied spaces with growing evidence of its safety and efficacy in healthcare settings. In effect, Far-UVC adds a proactive shield in the ICU, reducing the risk of pathogen spread and complementing existing infection control protocols.
A Milestone for UV Medico in the UAE
This installation marks a major milestone for UV Medico’s presence in the UAE. It is one of the largest installations of Far-UVC in a UAE hospital to date. The country is growing in confidence in Far-UVC for infection control. “This installation marks a major milestone for UV Medico in the UAE and is expected to encourage other hospitals to adopt this technology,” said Morad Alghzawi, Business Development Manager at UV Medico, reflecting on the project’s importance for the region.
