Joint research between Kobe University and Ushio Inc. has provided proof for the first time in the world that direct and repetitive illumination from 222-nm ultraviolet radiation C (UVC), a powerful antimicrobial technology, did not induce skin cancer under the studied conditions. These findings support the growing body of evidence that 222-nm UVC can be used safely in occupied environments when applied within established exposure limits.
