Infection control built into the ambulance

Challenge

Patient-transport vehicles need fast turnaround between patients while still controlling infection risk.

Approach

The UV222™ Ambulance lamp integrates into the vehicle for chemical-free, automated, continuous far-UVC disinfection.

Result

Far-UVC integrated across Falck fleets since 2022 — recognized internally as strategically important for patient safety.

The Challenge

Clean vehicles, without slowing response

An ambulance has to be ready for the next patient fast — but it also has to be safe.

Manual cleaning between transports takes time and is hard to perform consistently in a busy operation. Falck wanted continuous infection control that works in the background, without adding steps for crews or taking vehicles out of service.

The Approach

UV222 integrated into the vehicle

The UV222™ Ambulance lamp is built into the patient compartment for automated, continuous far-UVC.

It runs chemical-free and human-safe, providing ongoing air and surface disinfection during operation — and has been rolled out across Falck ambulance and patient-transport units in Denmark since 2022, with deployments also reaching partners across Europe.

The Result

Continuous protection, fleet-wide

Chemical-free, automated infection prevention now runs across dozens of Falck vehicles.

Falck reports seamless technical integration, compliance with relevant safety standards, and a positive internal evaluation — and sees potential to expand far-UVC across additional patient-transport and ambulance units.

“Based on our experience to date, the solution has demonstrated seamless technical integration, compliance with relevant safety standards, and a positive internal evaluation in relation to infection prevention and patient safety.” — Michael Gade, Head of Fleet & Equipment Sourcing, Global Procurement, Falck
