Keeping a national team competition-ready

Challenge

At a major championship, a single outbreak in a team bubble can sideline athletes and disrupt a whole campaign.

Approach

UV222™ far-UVC was installed in the dressing rooms of the Danish women’s and men’s ice hockey teams during the Games.

Result

Continuous, behind-the-scenes infection prevention in the shared spaces where the teams gathered.

The Challenge

Protecting the team bubble

At an elite tournament, health is performance — and shared team spaces are where infection spreads fastest.

Dressing rooms and common areas concentrate a whole squad in close quarters, day after day. Keeping those spaces safe — without disrupting the athletes’ routine — was the priority during the 2022 Winter Games in Beijing.

The Approach

Far-UVC where the team gathers

UV222™ was installed in the dressing rooms used by the Danish women’s and men’s ice hockey teams.

Human-safe far-UVC ran continuously in the background, adding ongoing air and surface disinfection in occupied spaces without interfering with the athletes or staff.

The Result

Continuous protection, behind the scenes

Far-UVC provided always-on infection prevention in the teams’ shared spaces throughout the Games.

It is part of a wider pattern of far-UVC use at major sporting events to help teams stay healthy and available through high-stakes competition.

“Continuous protection where the team gathers — dressing rooms and common areas.”
