UV222 Light Transmission in Plastics and Its Implications for Disinfecting Packaged Foods
UV Medico researchers have performed transmission tests on various types of plastics. For hard plastics, the transmission is virtually zero. In contrast, Far-UVC can penetrate thin, soft plastics such as VitaWrap. To decontaminate the surface of packaged food, plastic films made of PE or PP in very thin layers (< 0.01 mm) are preferred.
